Cambodia Gambling Dens
Friday, 23. August 2019
There is an interesting background to the Cambodia casinos that reside just over the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling den gaming is not legal. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent area, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal capital acquired from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of controls requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; although, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are apparently required to pass, there are ways around this, as is true of many border crossings.
The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship casino, features one hundred and fifty slots and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are 150 slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred one armed bandits and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel building that features many conveniences aside from the gambling den, which provides ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight tables.
